Hybrid Systems Hybrid systems are those that incorporate more than one type of renewable energy technology. For example the photo here shows a street light that is powered by both solar panel as well as by wind turbine. This can be very useful at locations where there are significant seasonal changes. For example the location may be a very sunny and a cloud free place during certain months with little wind. Then the solar panel will easily power the light. However the place may be cloudy and mostly dark at other times of the year, but may have strong winds. Then the wind turbine will kick in and power the street light. This way, the street light will always be powered with sufficient electricity. Hybrid systems can guarantee you continuous power throughout the day as well as throughout the year. |
